Pieces of a Puzzle ch 3 With time, the murder of the Blanc family was forgotten and blended in with the rest of the unfortunate victims of debt. Two years passed with the regular routine for Jasper do this odd job, do that, kill such and such family. Nothing ever changed, and he thought that nothing ever would. But he was wrong.
Once again Jasper had a day off, and once again he was bored. As he lay on the lush green lawn of the mansion, he began to contemplate the things he had read about the town. Recently, he had been becoming more and more intrigued with city life. So, on a whim, he decided to go downtown.
He went a little while after lunch, when everyone began to check out the shops. Where do all these people even come from? he wondered as he weaved through the crowds. Downtown was always so lively on Saturdays.
After about an hour of wandering, he found himself in front o
Pieces of a Puzzle ch 2 The next afternoon, Zooey got a message telling her about the Blanc family who had not been paying off their debt recently. She shook her head in disappointment.
"Jasper!" Zooey shouted down the halls of her mansion. The fourteen-year-old came running to her.
"Yes? What is it?" he responded.
Zooey showed him the message. "There is a family that hasn't been paying off their debt. Such a shame, isn't it? Go kill them and take all the money and valuables they have. Leave no one alive." Jasper nodded in understanding.
That night as he walked to the Blanc's residence, he began to hear a voice. This voice was not uncommon, but it was usually a small whisper that was easily carried away by the wind. However, it was stronger tonight. The voice hissed in his ears, "No. Don't do it. It's wrong. Wrong. WRONG!" He tried to replace the
Pieces of a Puzzle ch 1 Who is that child? The one sitting in the pool of blood? But the blood is not his own. It belongs to the two that are slumped beside him. Are they his parents? He doesn't even know. He is too scared and confused to make any sense of the situation. Then there is the tall, dark figure without a face. Did he kill the two?
Breathless, he awoke from the dream and sat up in the bed. But it wasn't just any dream. This dream repeated and repeated frequently, and it hurt every time. His head throbbed painfully as he looked around the room. Then he looked over at the girl next to him. She began to stir.
"Mmmnnh, What's wrong, Jasper?" she queried.
Jasper ran his hand through his long, creamy hair. "It was just a weird dream, Zooey."
Zooey's crimson eyes looked deep into him. Those eyes were his first real m
How It Began"God, your two o'clock is here."
"I have a two o'clock?"
"He's been here since 7:45. I figured it's only polite to... sir."
God sighed. "Fine, send him in."
While He waited God cleared His desk of papers and blueprints; no need for outsiders to see His plans. Soon enough the door to His office opened and God stood, smiled, held out a hand towards one of the two visitor's chairs.
"God! Great stuff you're doing in sector 2-7-0! Great stuff!"
The man's hands were clammy, his handshake limp. Rumpled suit, porkpie hat, briefcase... oh Jes-- oh dear, a salesman. God's smile slipped a little but He soldiered on gamely. With luck He could shoo the poor guy away in a few minutes.
"So, what can I do for you?"
The man sat, briefcase across his knees. "Sector 2-7-0! Everyone's talking about it! What do you call it? Man and merman?"
"Man and woman, actually. And thanks. But we're pretty busy around here, and..."
"Oh! Right! No time for the wicked, eh?" The salesman winked and popped his briefcase,
